there was a time when cadsoft would sell a student license for a one time $600 USD. if I use geda then I need to use a VM on windows. My problem is that after I am no longer eligible for student fusion 360 and student eagle, I will need to learn kicad or geda. It is rare that I get to rant on two pieces of software on one thread. if you want tolerance > 0 (highly likely that you do) you need to have some dummy skin floating off the surface of your parts.īesides kicad, there are other alternatives to eagle. it can only have collision and friction of surfaces. fusion 360 can't have motion paths for parts. fusion 360 can not do what solidworks does. industry professionals that need these features are using much better software. beating a dead horse and alienating customers. they are putting eagle 3d on life support. I think autodesk is trying to steal customers from solidworks electrical and other electrical CAD like eplan. ![]() ![]() we should support free software by using it, promoting it, helping debug it, and for some people, contributing to the code base. I don't care that I get eagle free as a student. I am dumping fusion 360 for rhino 3d + grasshopper.
